Alaskan Unguided Barren Ground Caribou Hunts

We're glad you're interested in an Alaskan Big Game Hunt. Talon Air prides itself in providing first-class services for the hunter who knows what he wants. We can help in planning a hunt that will be re-lived over and over again every time the story is told. The area we fly includes over 200,000 square miles of Alaska's wilderness.

We focus and specialize in caribou hunts.

The barren ground caribou is the largest member of the caribou family. They have a live weight of up to 500 pounds. When boned out you can have up to 175 pounds of meat. The antlers, which can be very large, will make an impressive addition to any trophy hunter's collection.

Caribou often travel in herds on these tundra covered hills. Both archery and rifle hunters can have a very successful hunt. The caribou hunt is highly recommended for the first time Alaska big game hunter. You will experience the rugged Alaskan wilderness and have a very good chance of bringing home a great trophy.

This is the most popular and successful hunt we offer. It is common for our hunters to have a 100% success rate. Non-residents do not require a registered guide for caribou hunting trips.

MULCHATNA CARIBOU HUNT
One Camp Drop Off Hunt

This fly-in hunt is on the west side of the Alaska Mountains in the Lake Clark & Illiamna Lake Area. The Caribou herds we normally hunt have been growing at a rapid rate, and have been a consistent producer of trophy animals.

Our fall season is from August 20 - September 30. We recommend 5 to 7 days for this hunt.

Price Per Person: $1,500. with a 2 person minimum. No credit card on game hunts.
(No additional charge for extra animals killed.)

PLANNING YOUR HUNT - General Information

HUNT DURATION: On these hunts we show a recommended length of 5 to 7 days, however you may shorten or lengthen your hunt when you book your trip. We suggest you allow several extra days on both ends of your hunt to allow for bad weather, and preparing your trophies and game for transport home.

EQUIPMENT OUTFITTING: For transportation in the bush plane all gear should be packed in small stuff sacks, duffel bags, or dry gear bags. Food (including freeze dried) is available in Kenai and may be purchased upon your arrival. The maximum weight for your gear (including food, camping equipment, rifles, and personal gear) cannot exceed 125# per person. Freeze dried food and not duplicating items will help reduce weight. Everything is weighed prior to departure for the hunting area. Extra weight can be carried, but it will require chartering extra flights at $1000 per hour.

OTHER SERVICES: We can make recommendations for local accommodations, fishing charters, and other side trips. We can also make recommendations for taxidermy work, and the care of meat & trophies for shipment home. We want every ALASKAN BIG GAME HUNT to be the "TRIP OF A LIFETIME."
